What to expect
Spend a full day exploring the Anaga Mountains on a guided hiking tour in Tenerife’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, away from the busy resorts. Pickup is provided from the southern or eastern coastal areas, followed by a drive to Anaga. You’ll start with a short introductory walk (about 25–35 minutes) in the misty Enchanted Forest, where laurel trees and shifting clouds create a unique atmosphere. In clear weather, you may also catch distant views of Mount Teide. Next, travel by vehicle to the main trailhead, passing a still-inhabited cliffside cave village along the way. The main hike follows mountain trails across ridges, forested slopes, and valleys, with varied terrain and constantly changing scenery. Your guide shares insights into the region’s nature, history, and everyday life, and a relaxed picnic break is included (hilltop or inside a cave, depending on conditions). This experience works well for experienced hikers and for first-timers in good general physical condition, but it does involve uneven terrain and narrow paths.
