What to expect

1. Stop 1 · 35min

   A traditional bar awaits as your first stop of the evening. Specializing in mussels, you’ll taste a variety of these along with a Basque cider. Get acquainted with the art of pouring your drink from a height and learn about a cultural phenomenon unique to the area.

2. Stop 2 · 30min

   This may not be a pintxos bar – but this specialty store is full of Basque and Spanish products that are must-tries. You’ll sample some of their famous cured Iberian ham. In fact, you’ll try not one, but two varieties and get an education into the difference between them.

3. Stop 3 · 35min

   The family running this bar has been working on the anchovy recipe offered here for generations. Once you taste them, you’ll see how much it’s paid off! Alongside this delicacy you’ll get to sample a refreshing glass of Basque sparkling wine.

4. Stop 4 · 45min

   Next up is a popular modern pintxos bar. Here, seasonal fresh ingredients, traditional recipes and inventive cooking techniques meet for a novel pintxos experience.

5. Stop 5 · 35min

   The last stop is exclusively for a dessert you won’t find elsewhere. Paired with a sweet dessert sherry, this Basque specialty is an award-winner and the perfect way to end the tour.

Meeting & pickup

• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour, your guide will be holding a yellow WalksDevour sign. This tour meets at Ijentea Kalea, 6, 20003 Donostia, Gipuzkoa. We'll meet at the bronze sculpture in front of Goikoa Palace (Goikoa Jauregia) located behind the city hall.

- Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour start time for check-in. Out of courtesy to other guests, we’re unable to wait for latecomers. No refunds can be provided for late arrivals or no-shows. - Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments or with wheelchairs, or strollers. - This tour is not recommended for children under 15 years of age due to busy, crowded bars and the alcohol focus of this tour. For safety and logistical reasons, guests with very young children or strollers may be refused participation in this tour. - Those with dietary restrictions need to contact us at info@takewalks.com at the time of booking so we can arrange your food. - This tour is adaptable for: Vegetarians, Pescatarians, gluten free (not celiac), dairy free, Non-alcoholic options & Pregnant women, but please note that you may not have a replacement food option at every stop. Not recommended for Vegans. - Avoid backpacks, bulky purses and strollers - Tours take place rain or shine, dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain. Wear comfortable shoes. - We recommend you bring a water bottle (to protect the environment we don't provide plastic bottles). You'll be able to fill your bottle on tour. - Tips/gratuities (for your guide) are always appreciated. - Walks and Devour comply with all local government regulations.
