Hua Hin Wildlife Rescue and Elephant Refuge Small-Group Tour

This experience goes beyond a typical animal visit, offering an educational journey through one of Thailand’s major wildlife rescue projects. Explore the Wildlife Rescue Centre, Wildlife Hospital, Elephant Refuge, Ape Rescue Centre, and Big Cat Rescue Centre while learning the individual rescue stories of the animals and WFFT’s work in wildlife conservation and animal welfare. At the Elephant Refuge, the experience follows a protected-contact approach. Guests remain in a protected viewing area while the elephants are free to approach or move away, allowing them greater choice and freedom. The experience focuses on responsible wildlife observation, conservation education, and rescued animal welfare, with no elephant riding, animal shows, or forced interaction. Your visit also directly supports WFFT’s ongoing rescue and care of animals in need.
What to expect
Start with shared pickup from your hotel in Hua Hin or Cha-Am and travel by air-conditioned van to Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT). The guided experience begins at approximately 10:00 AM. Begin with a guided walking tour of the Wildlife Rescue Centre. Learn about WFFT’s rescue and rehabilitation work while seeing rescued elephants, gibbons, bears, monkeys, and other wildlife and hearing their individual rescue stories. At approximately 12:00 PM, enjoy a traditional Thai buffet lunch overlooking a large elephant enclosure. Vegan, vegetarian, and meat options are available. After lunch, board a WFFT safari bus to explore the Newlands area. Visit the Elephant Refuge, Ape Rescue Centre, and Big Cat Rescue Centre, where rescued animals live in spacious surroundings. At the Elephant Refuge, WFFT follows a protected-contact approach. Guests remain in a protected area while the elephants are free to approach or move away. Toward the end of the experience, help prepare banana balls for the rescued elephants and observe them during feeding time. The full-day experience ends at approximately 3:30 PM, followed by return transfer to your hotel in Hua Hin or Cha-Am.
